Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
What are my fellow GIM numismitists' opinions on the future collectibility of the soon to be released Lincoln Silver Dollars?
Will they be worth as much as those Silver Buffalo dollars from 2001? Old Abe has been in the news alot lately, what with the Obama connection and the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln cent. What say you? http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs...dentifier=9100 |
Re: Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
I don't know. With a mintage of 500,000 and a price of $31, there are so many other limited silver coins with lower prices and lower mintage numbers.

Re: Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
Unless I read it wrong, that's 500,000 split between the Proof and Uncirculated, so about a quarter million each. That's not too bad. Hell, if the Mint were not so slow and restrictive, I bet they could easily sell a quarter million UHR St. Gaudens this year.
Does anyone know the total mintage of Buffalo silver dollars? From what I read, they were sold-out in the first day, so could not have been too great a quantity. |

:452:...Don't like the design on obverse and reverse, with all those words is :thumpdown....IMO.....May get some when it comes in a set with 4, cent pieces, later in spring.

Re: Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
I think it's ugly.

Re: Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
The mint's website is SLOOOW.....so some people are ordering them....But I am not.
I shot my load on the UHR. |
Re: Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
Finishing placing my order now...this website is ridiculous...Must be alot of people buying...

Re: Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
I think the coin is a good idea but I am dissapointed it does not contain a full ounce of silver.

Re: Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
I think they could have put this on the reverse to go with the theme of Lincoln. It would sell better.

Re: Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
They're limiting it to 100 units per household - too bad for all of you who wanted more than 100 of these babies.

If they put Barry on the other side I might bite :tongue_ma:

The commeratives are nearly always a BUST.:36_1_28: |
Re: Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
NO interest in Lincoln
|
Re: Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
The popularity of the UHR and the silver buffalo just shows that the public loves reprints of historical coins. Having a 30 word essay on the back of a coin probably isn't going to make it a best seller.

No, Not a fan of Lincoln or Obama for that matter
|
Re: Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
I bought one each of the proof and the uncirculated. I figure if everybody finds them as repugnant as most of the posters on this thread, they may be a very low mintage item and consequently worth something.

Re: Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
proofs are the way to go

Re: Anyone grabbing some Lincolns $$ @ Noon?
It appears that Lincoln got shot before he accomplished some of the things he really wanted to do. I'm sure he is rolling around in his grave right now being compared to Obama.

They seem ok... Packaging is same as usual for Commems... |
